our CSR work
As a 170 year old law firm, we have always been part of
the fabric of the communities in which we operate, and are acutely
aware of our impact on our local surroundings.
Committed to carrying out our business in a responsible
way, whilst making a positive contribution to our local and wider
community, our CSR ethos informs the way we interact
with our clients, suppliers and the outside world, as well as how
we work internally with our own people.
Our CSR policy
As an employer with national offices, we recognise our business
activities inevitably have a direct impact on our clients,
suppliers, and also on our communities. We also realise our
business activities have negative impacts on the environment. These
arise from issues including the carbon footprint of vehicles,
energy use in our office, waste generation, and the use of
non-renewable resources.
We are fully committed to reducing these impacts, and
continually aim to improve our CSR performance.
Our CSR commitments mean
- recognising the direct and indirect environmental effects of
our daily business practices and introducing 'greener ways of
working' to combat these effects
- creating a positive and fair workplace for our people, through
employee incentives, initiatives and a clear equality and diversity policy
- supporting our local communities and 'giving back' through pro
bono, corporate sponsorship and guidance
- donations and fund-raising work for a range of local and
national charities
- striving to improve our customer service and inviting
clients to feedback to us, to inform our strategic
and operational decisions.
We review our CSR policy every year to ensure we are up to speed
with the latest ethical business solutions and practices.
Improving our CSR performance
- Actively supporting and taking part in CSR projects and
initiatives
- Raising awareness among employees and clients
- Encouraging employee involvement in our local communities
- Meeting, monitoring and reporting on our statutory
environmental obligations and other requirements to which we
subscribe
- Meeting our statutory obligations on employment, health and
safety, and the environment
- Setting objectives and targets for improvement and reviewing
our environmental performance on a regular basis
- Taking part in local and national projects which promote
sustainable development
- Listening to customers and stakeholders
We review our CSR policy every six months to ensure we are up to
speed with the latest ethical business solutions and practices. Our
marketing manager Holly Nelson is responsible for this
policy.
