pro bono - "for the public good"
Pro bono is an important element of Walker Smith Way's corporate
social responsibility strategy.
We actively encourage our employees to use their specialist
skills to provide professional free advice to local charities and
community projects who would be unable to afford this advice
otherwise.
Our solicitors and other non-legal professionals regularly
provide this support via a number of support channels and for a
range of charities.
We mentor local law students, regularly support the Chester
College of Law and take on work experience students wherever
possible, from a wide range of social backgrounds.
A number of our solicitors also provide careers advice to school
children and students. Our solicitors take part in Darland High
School's annual 'World of Work' day:
"Dear Walker Smith Way,
On behalf of Darland High School and myself, I would like to
thank you so much for taking part in the World of Work event today.
The support and time you gave in attending, together with your
wealth of experience greatly contributed to the success of the
event.
We have had lots of very positive feedback already from the
students and I am sure that your individual input will have some
impact on their choices in the future, far better than just reading
about a career on the internet."
