David joined Walker Smith Way as a trainee solicitor in 2010. He
works closely with Michael Keenan, a partner in our employment
department, assisting him with his caseload.
Before training in law, David worked in the IT profession and
was a trade union steward and health and safety
representative. This experience is of great value when working with
trade union members as he is able to understand concerns and
circumstances first-hand.
David is also a member of the firm's social committee and helps
to organise social events.
Why did you choose to do a seat in
employment?
My previous involvement with trade unions means I have a long
standing interest in employment law. It is also a great opportunity
to learn from a team of lawyers with a strong reputation in this
field.
What is your experience of being a trainee at Walker Smith
Way?
Being new to the firm I have received a very warm welcome from
everybody I've met. It is clear that trainees receive a lot of
support from their colleagues and the next two years will be a real
team effort.
What do you feel most passionate about within your working
life?
Getting results for clients who need our help.
What do you feel most passionate about within your home
life?
I've practiced Aikido, a japanese martial art for several years.
The training is quite demanding so it keeps me active. I also like
reading, going to the theatre, seeing live comedy, and watching as
many films as possible.
If you won the lottery tomorrow, what is the first thing
you would do?
Be extremely nice to my fiancée, because she buys the ticket in our
household.
