Gayle joined Walker Smith Way in 2007, originally working as a
Secretary in the Wills, trusts and probate team and more recently
the employment team. She joined the trainee solicitor programme in
2010. She works closely with David Rudd, a partner in our clinical
negligence department, assisting him with his caseload.
Gayle is also a member of the firm's social committee and helps
to organise social events.
Why did you choose to do a seat in the clinical
negligence department?
Having already completed a seat in the clinical
negligence department I welcomed the opportunity to return. I
enjoy developing my knowledge and understanding in both
medicine and law and assisting clients in their understanding
of the situation they find themselves. Due to the nature of
clinical negligence cases I have the opportunity to work closely
with clients and establish a positive relationship to help
guide them through what can be a very difficult and emotional
time.
What is your experience of being a trainee at
Walker Smith Way?
Walker Smith Way is a very social firm; it's welcoming and
supportive. I have had client contact and file responsibility from
an early stage and know that this will greatly assist in my
continued development and understanding throughout my training
contact.
What do you feel most passionate about within your
working life?
Working in a supportive team environment and ensuring that
clients receive a high level of customer service.
What do you feel most passionate about within your home
life?
Spending as much time as I can with my family. When I have the time
I enjoy running and I completed the London Marathon in April
2010.
If you won the lottery tomorrow, what is the first thing you would
do?
I would make sure that my family were financially secure and go on
a huge spending spree with the rest. I will have to keep dreaming
though… I don't play!
