James joined Walker Smith Way as a trainee solicitor in 2009 and qualified as a solicitor in 2011. James is part of our dispute resolution team and acts for commercial clients and private individuals on commercial disputes. 

James also undertakes property litigation for landlords and tenants in both residential and commercial property matters including possession proceedings. James specialises in contract disputes, property litigation, landlord and tenant, debt and asset recovery.

James studied law at Lancaster University and was an active member of the Music Society there.

Why did you choose to do a seat in dispute resolution?
I chose to specialise in dispute resolution because of the variety of work it offers in a constantly developing area of law. It is interesting because it includes various areas of law including contract, tort and property. I enjoy working with others to find a satisfactory outcome to a dispute.

What has been the highlight of your career so far?
Qualifying as a solicitor with Walker Smith Way.

What do you feel most passionate about within your working life?
I try to be approachable and understand the needs of each individual client so as to obtain the best possible result for them.

What do you feel most passionate about within your home life?
Family, friends, music and Stoke City.

If you won the lottery tomorrow, what is the first thing you would do?
I'd ask who had bought the ticket!
