civil partnership dissolutions
From December 2005 same-sex couples have been able to register
their relationship to obtain legal recognition and be recognised as
'civil partners' in a civil partnership.
The law concerning civil partnerships covers not only the rights
and responsibilities between the partners, but also rights relating
to:
- children
- finances
- child support
- home occupancy rights
- protection from violence
- beneficiary rights with regards to property and possessions in
the event of death of either party (however, it is always
safest to make a Will to ensure your assets are divided
exactly as you would want them to be)
If your civil partnership breaks down, we can talk you through
the legal process and give advice on what to expect, helping you to
make sense of your situation to enable you to move forward in the
swiftest way possible.
'Dissolution' is the term used to describe the termination of a
civil partnership, and the dissolution process is similar in many
ways to that of
divorce.
