We support a range of charities through monthly donations and by raising money through activities and events. For example, we hold an annual charity BBQ in the summer every year, which is organised by our social committee and supports charities close to our staff members’ hearts.
In August 2008 we donated the proceeds to two Charities: Teams4u, which provides soccer and netball camps for children in third world countries; in support of Ciara Whittaker from our Wrexham office who is travelling to Uganda to give her time freely. The other charity to benefit was the Tuberous Sclerosis Association, at the request of Mary Owen from our Chester office whose son suffers from the condition. Read more in our press release
In September 2008, we sponsored the convoy for Communication Workers Union Humanitarian Aid when they undertook a mission to deliver aid directly to underprivileged children in Bulgaria.
We are also backing a campaign to support the plight of persecuted trade unionists in Colombia, South America. We have signed up to Justice for Colombia, which is urging the British Government to rethink its apparently unconditional support for the country’s president Alvaro Uribe.
