At Walker Smith Way we are committed to carrying out our business in a responsible way, whilst making a positive contribution to our local and wider community. Corporate Social Responsibility guides the way that we interact with our clients, suppliers and the world outside the firm – as well as how we work internally with our own people.
We see our Corporate Social Responsibility as:
- Recognising the direct and indirect environmental effects of our day-to-day business practices and introducing ‘greener ways of working’
- Creating a positive and fair place for our people to work through various initiatives and a clear Equality and Diversity policy
- Supporting the local community around us and ‘giving back’ through sponsorship and guidance
- Donations and fund-raising work for charities
- Constantly striving to improve the service we offer our clients and invite their feedback
- Backing campaigns that relate to the infringement of human rights.
Reducing the environmental impacts of our business practices
We have introduced a number of measures internally to reduce the amount of energy we use as a firm:
- We have installed Vision Soft’s Power Out software that automatically puts computers into hibernate mode if they are not used for 20 minutes
- We use flat screens and energy efficient computers.
We also consider the environmental impacts of the materials we purchase and are committed to reducing the consumption of paper, recycling and promoting re-use rather than disposal:
- Company literature uses FSC certified paper wherever possible
- We are working towards a paperless ‘dead file’ retrieval system
- We have installed double sided printer drivers and staff are encouraged to print double sided whenever possible
- Confidential waste is shredded and recycled into tissue paper.
