Two newly qualified solicitors are celebrating having been appointed into full time posts following intensive training with Walker Smith Way solicitors.
Simon will specialise in employment law and Paul in wills, trusts and probate.
They chose their specialities after two year’s training involving working in various different departments with Walker Smith Way, which has offices in Chester and Wrexham.
Simon, who will be working with trade unions members as well as individual clients, said: “I chose employment law because it is so challenging and gives me an opportunity to help people who might otherwise struggle to win any form of justice. Often we help those who are perceived underdogs, it can be a single individual up against a large organisation and it gives me great job satisfaction to help them level the playing field.”
Originally from Llanelli, south Wales, Simon moved to Chester to study at Christleton College of Law and is now settled with his fiancée Nicola Dilley, a trainee solicitor with a firm in Southport, who hopes to qualify in November.
“Chester’s a great place to live and work, I really enjoy life here,” said Simon who relaxes by playing football for the Walker Smith Way team and has just taken up golf.
Paul is also looking forward to continuing his career in Chester, after having moved from his native Newcastle, where his girlfriend Kate Clark, is studying to be a mental health nurse.
“Walker Smith Way has given me exceptional training, a solid foundation in all aspects of law and I’m delighted to be able to stay with them as a solicitor.”
During his training he spent some time in the firm’s wills, trusts and probate department. “I enjoyed it immensely and it’s the area in which I feel my real strengths lie.”
Outside work Paul enjoys keeping fit and socialising. He is a member of the local gym and has also participated in the firm’s cricket team.
Established more than 150 years ago, Walker Smith Way has an extensive client base covering Cheshire, North Wales and the borders.
It is one of the region’s premier legal firms, employing 170, and is a serious competitor to firms in Manchester and Liverpool.
