Elen originally qualified with a Degree in Nutrition before changing her career path into Marketing and for the opportunity to get involved in event management. As Marketing Manager, Elen has overall responsibility for event management, marketing materials, advertising, sponsorship, charity work and overseeing the Walker Smith Way website.
Before joining the firm in 2004, Elen worked for Careers Wales North East, where she organised local and Wales-wide events. She is a fluent Welsh speaker and has a Professional Diploma in Marketing from the CIM (Charted Institute of Marketing).
Why did you choose to specialise in Marketing?
I've always enjoyed organising events - taking them from the early planning stages through to a successful and enjoyable event. I love getting involved in design and I get motivated by sponsoring local clubs and events that will help the community.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
This website! It's been a huge project to plan and manage, and I've had a real sense of achievement taking it from ideas stage through to completion. Evolving the Walker Smith Way brand to reflect our values of being a modern and progressive firm has also been a high point. And finally, obtaining my CIM qualification.
What do you feel most passionate about within your working life?
Giving everyone within the Firm the right tools to build relationships with clients and develop partnerships with other businesses and contacts in the area. All of which means we can live up to our promise of delivering great service to our clients.
What do you feel most passionate about within your home life?
Having lots of fun with the people that matter most - my friends and family.
If you won the lottery tomorrow, what is the first thing you would do?
Buy out Cadbury's and appoint myself as chief taster so I could eat chocolate all day and wash it down with champagne!
