Neil joined the Walker Smith Way team as a Trainee in 1991 and is now the Head of the Personal Injury and Trade Union Department. Neil specialises in Catastrophic Injury, Manual Handling, Employer Liability, Repetitive Strain Injury and Road Traffic Accidents.
Neil is a member of the Spinal Injuries Association, the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and the Law Society Personal Injury Panel.
Why did you choose to specialise in personal injury?
I enjoy being able to make a difference for injured people and over the years have enjoyed building up strong relationships with Trade Unions and their members.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
My highlight has to be recovering £5.2 million for a client who suffered catastrophic injuries in a fall at work.
What do you feel most passionate about within your working life?
Assisting seriously injured individuals and their families, where their life has been turned upside down, get back to some sort of normality.
What do you feel most passionate about within your home life?
My major passion is sport. I enjoy all sport but following the Irish rugby union team is fantastic. I get to meet old friends and make new ones. It also gives me the opportunity to visit my family in Belfast where I was born and lived for 18 years before coming to England to go to university. I also enjoy going on holiday with my family.
If you won the lottery tomorrow, what's the first thing you would do?
I would call my fellow Partners to tell them that I wasn't coming back! But knowing me I would only win £10 so nothing would change!!
