Negligence during hernia surgery

The claimant was admitted to hospital for inguinal hernia surgery. Druing the procedure, the implanted mesh was not adequately secured. As a result of this, the hernia recurred and a further operation was required.
Delay in diagnosing a fractured wrist

Client was only correctly diagnosed with a fractured wrist following a 3-week delay. As well as the pain and distress caused by this delay, the claimant was also left with a cosmetic deformity and limited impairtment in wrist movement. This affected her ability to take part in various leisure and domestic activities.
Negligent plastic surgery
£17,000 awarded
Client underwent plastic surgery to resolve the development of excessive breast tissues (gynaecomastia). The procedure was not carried out successfully, leaving the client with a significant deformity of the right breast following inappropriate excision of the pectoralis major muscle.
Delayed induction of labour leading to stillbirth
£20,000 awarded
A reduction in amniotic fluid failed to be recognised and diagnosed during our client's pregnancy. As a result, the induction of labour was delayed, which meant that sadly the baby died in utero. The client was then forced to deliver the baby and she suffered a serious psychological reaction as a result.
Incorrect hormone replacement therapy treatment

Client was negligently prescribed oestrogen-only hormone replacement therapy by her GP over a period of nearly two years. As she had not undergone a hysterectomy, this type of HRT was incorrect, resulting in a buildup of tissue in her womb which was fortunately discovered before it became malignant. She was forced to undergo an otherwise unnecessary hysterectomy. Due to complications, the client was admitted a week later for emergency surgery, which resulted in extensive scarring and depression.
Negligent dental surgery
£9,500 awarded (September 2007)
After undergoing dental implant surgery, 3 out of 4 of the client's implants fell out within a year. Client then sued his dentist for negligent planning and performance, alleging that the implants were inserted into thin areas of his gum due to the failure to perform a CT scan and carry out bone grafting. As a result, the client will now require additional surgery to restore him to his preoperative position enabling him to wear a denture.
Stroke resulting from incorrect drug usage
£1 million awarded
Client suffered stroke as a result of hospital failure to adjust dose of Warfarin following surgery.
