Any relationship breaking down is an emotional and stressful situation, but potentially more so when children are involved.
When embarking on the divorce process, it is important to remember that both partners will continue to be parents. We encourage you to try and reach decisions about your children’s living arrangements and maintenance payments together if possible, away from the courts or the Child Support Agency. However if you can not agree, the courts can make orders in relation to their residence and contact arrangements. They can also prohibit or determine specific issues (e.g. over schooling arrangements or medical treatment). We will represent your issues in Court and strive to achieve the best possible outcome on your behalf.
At what is an extremely difficult time, we will stay in constant touch – keeping you up-to-date on progress, in a sensitive and understanding way.
Collaborative Law offers an alternative to negotiation or the court process, and puts the decision-making in the hands of both parents.
